Masks Now Required At Arlington Cemetery's Indoor Facilities

All visitors to Arlington National Cemetery's indoor facilities are now required to wear a mask regardless of their vaccination status.

ARLINGTON, VA — Visitors to Arlington National Cemetery on Thursday discovered they were now required to wear a mask at all of the indoor facilities at the cemetery.

The new restrictions were implemented after the Defense Department released new guidance on Wednesday in response to the latest recommendations from the CDC.

The following restrictions went into affect on Wednesday, according to the press release:

  • "In areas of substantial or high community transmission, DoD requires all service members, federal employees, onsite contractor employees, and visitors, regardless of vaccination status, to wear a mask in an indoor setting in installations and other facilities owned, leased or otherwise controlled by DoD.
  • "Service members, federal employees, onsite contractor employees, and visitors who are not fully vaccinated also need to continue to physically distance consistent with applicable CDC and DoD Force Health Protection guidance.
  • "DoD installations, other facilities, and worksites shall, as soon as possible, post signs and post information on their websites clarifying what masking requirements apply in each installation, other facility, and worksite.
  • "Organizations should consult with their servicing Labor Relations Office for guidance regarding implementation for bargaining unit employees."

Starting Monday, The Pentagon will require all visitors, staff, service members, and contractors to wear masks, as well as follow other restrictions based on the new guidance from DoD.

The new restrictions at Arlington National Cemetery not only apply to visitors but also ANC family pass holders and funeral attendees, regardless of their vaccination status.

Everyone must now wear a mask inside the cemetery's welcome center; administration building; all restrooms; the Women’s Memorial; Arlington House mansion and out buildings; and the Memorial Amphitheater Display Room. In addition, attendees at all funeral services at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall chapels must now wear a mask.
