Man Struck, Killed By Train At Arlington Metro Station

Service was suspended at the Pentagon City station shortly before 11 a.m., according to Metro officials.

ARLINGTON, VA — A man was killed Saturday when he was hit by a train at the Pentagon City Metro Station in Arlington, according to Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority officials and police.

According to Metro Transit Police, the man was struck inside a tunnel around 10:30 a.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said station cameras showed the man voluntarily walking onto the tracks before he was struck.

Service was suspended at the station shortly after the incident, Metro officials tweeted shortly before 11 a.m.

Shortly before 1 p.m., Metro officials said trains were "single tracking between National Airport and Pentagon City" and riders should expect delays.

Arlington Fire & EMS responders were also on the scene.
