Shoplifting Suspect Flees On Train Tracks At Pentagon City Metro: Cops
A D.C. man accused of shoplifting fled onto the train tracks at the Pentagon City Metro station Monday as police tried to detain him.

ARLINGTON, VA — A Washington, D.C. man accused of shoplifting fled onto the train tracks at the Pentagon City Metro station Monday morning as police tried to apprehend him, according to the Arlington County Police Department.
When the suspect jumped onto the train tracks, Metro service in the area was temporarily suspended, police said.
The suspect then made his way on the train tracks one stop south to the Crystal City Metro station, where police took him into custody. No one was injured in the incident, police said.

Alvern Harris, 37, of the District of Columbia, was arrested and charged with petit larceny, trespassing on a railroad track and failure to pay a fare when he entered the Pentagon City Metro station, according to police.
The incident began around 10:15 a.m. on Monday, when Arlington police were dispatched to the 1200 block of S. Hayes Street for the report of a larceny.

The suspect had entered a store, collected merchandise and left the store without paying, police said. Police officers found the suspect at the Pentagon City Metro, but he disregarded their commands and then jumped onto the tracks.
