Weapon Charges Filed Against MD Man: Arlington Police

ARLINGTON, VA — A Maryland man is facing weapon charges after resisting arrest Tuesday afternoon in the Pentagon City area, according to Arlington County police.

An officer conducting a proactive patrol inside a parking garage around 4:30 p.m. spotted an unoccupied vehicle associated with a. wanted suspect, according to the incident report.

"The suspect returned to the vehicle and the officer conducted a traffic stop during which the suspect resisted arrest, according to the report. "With the assistance of additional officers, the suspect was subsequently taken into custody."

During the investigation, police recovered a firearm with an altered serial number that they said was stolen.

Police charged 38-year-old Jamal Waldon of Suitland, Maryland with carrying a concealed weapon, altering the serial number of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm and obstruction of justice, according to the report. He was then held without bond.

Waldon was arraigned Wednesday morning in Arlington General District Court and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 7, 2026.

The possession of a stolen firearm and altering the serial number of a firearm charges are Class 6 felonies. If Waldon is convicted on either of these charges, he faces a potential penalty of one to five years in prison, or up to 12 months in jail and a fine of $2,500.
