What's Open, Closed For Christmas 2023 In Arlington

ARLINGTON, VA — Christmas Day falls on a Monday in 2023, so there will be various schedule changes over several days.

Arlington County government will be closed Monday, Dec. 25. Other services have schedule changes on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and surrounding days.

Arlington County government offices: Closed Monday, Dec. 25.

Arlington Public Schools: On winter break from Wednesday, Dec. 21 through Monday, Jan. 1.

Courts: The Arlington Circuit Court, General District Court, Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court will be closed from noon on Friday, Dec. 22 through Tuesday, Dec. 26.

Parking: Permit parking is always in effect unless specifically noted on the sign. Meters are not enforced on holidays.

Libraries: Arlington Public Libraries will be closed on Sunday, Dec. 24 and Monday, Dec. 25.

Recycling/Trash/Organics Curbside Routes – No collection on Christmas Day. Curbside collection will shift by one day for all routes (e.g., Monday routes will be serviced on Tuesday).

Department of Motor Vehicles: All DMV customer service centers are closed Monday, Dec. 25.

Post offices: Closed on Monday, Dec. 26.

Metro: Metrorail will be open 7 a.m. to midnight on both Sunday, Dec. 24 and Monday, Dec. 25. Metrobus will be on a Sunday schedule on Monday, Dec. 25.

ART Bus: ART 41, 42, 45, 51, 55 and 87 will operate on Sunday schedules on Monday, Dec. 25. All other ART routes will not operate.

Parks & Recreation Facilities & Programs: All community centers, administrative offices and classes are closed from Monday, Dec. 25. The Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 24 and will be closed on Monday, Dec. 25. Parks in Arlington will be open over Christmas weekend.

Animal Welfare League of Arlington: Closed on Monday, Dec. 25. The Arlington County Animal Control team can be reached for emergencies at 703-931-9241.

Sheriff's Office: Administrative offices will be closed on Monday, Dec. 25. Fingerprinting for the public and county employees are open Thursdays from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Visit the sheriff's office website for detention center visiting hours.
