All Fairfax County Parkway Lanes Reopen Following Earlier Crashes

Two crashes caused the Fairfax County Parkway in the Fair Oaks to be closed for a period of time Wednesday afternoon.

FAIR OAKS, VA — All lanes of the Fairfax County Parkway were closed for about 30 minutes Tuesday afternoon due to crashes at two intersections, according to Fairfax County Police.

The northbound lanes of the parkway were reported closed around 2 p.m. at the Stringfellow Road intersection due to a two-vehicle crash, according to police. Three occupants were transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for non-life -threatening injuries.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue crews responded to the scene of a second collision on the parkway at the Rugby Road intersection, according to police. This led to police closing the southbound lanes of the parkway at the intersection.

All lanes of the parkway reopened to traffic, according to a 2:35 p.m. social media post.

No information was available about the cause of the crashes at either intersection or the extent of the injuries to those involved in the crash at Rugby Road.
