WEST SPRINGFIELD, VA — A high school tennis coach was arrested on four felony charges Nov. 24 after investigators determined he had an inappropriate relationship with a minor, authorities said in a news release on Friday.

On Nov. 23, the victim told officers from the West Springfield District Station that she was subjected to inappropriate conduct by 62-year-old Tony Adams of Lorton when she was a minor, according to the incident report.

Detectives with the Fairfax County Police Department's Child Abuse Squad determined that Adams had engaged in unlawful and inappropriate contact when working as the victim's private coach while she was still a minor, according to the report.

"He also supported the tennis program at West Springfield in 2022, but not as a coach."

After arresting Adams, investigators took him to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with four counts of indecent liberties by a custodian, police say. He was then held without bond.
