Kona Grill to Open Tuesday at Fair Oaks Mall

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- Kona Grill, Inc. (NASDAQ: KONA), an American grill and sushi bar, will open its second DC-area restaurant Tuesday at Fair Oaks Mall, the company announced this week.

The Arizona-based company’s first DC metro area restaurant opened last year, June 29, in Arlington County's Rosslyn neighborhood.

The 7,000 square-foot restaurant, seating 266 guests, features an 800-gallon aquarium at its entrance, an expansive dining room with booth and table seating, and a 1,202 square-foot all-season outdoor patio, bar and lounge area, plus an exhibition kitchen and Kona Grill’s signature sushi bar.

With a diverse menu of appetizers, flatbreads, salads, sandwiches, poultry, beef and seafood entrees and house-made desserts, Kona Grill’s emphasis is on made-from-scratch contemporary dishes served in an upscale casual atmosphere.

“We are excited to expand our presence in the Metropolitan Washington, DC area with the opening of our second Kona Grill location in the market,” Berke Bakay, president and CEO, said in a news release announcing the new location in Fairfax County.

“We look forward to showcasing our innovative food and drink offerings in our signature contemporary environment," he said. "Fairfax County, with its vibrant growth, is an ideal location for us and this site is especially exciting with its proximity to the Fairfax Government Center, the Fair Oaks Hospital complex and its easy accessibility to the I-66 corridor.”

“This opening is our third of the year and we are on track to successfully execute upon our 2016 development plans of 20% unit growth.” he said.
