MD Man In Spider-Man Suit Cited For Taking $10K In Merchandise: Police
City of Fairfax Police arrested a man they say wore a Spider-Man costume to steal $10,000 in merchandise from a local game store.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — In a not so friendly neighborhood Spider-Man move, a 20-year-old Silver Spring man wore a costume of the comic book web-slinger while stealing $10,000 worth of merchandise from a Fairfax City store on Saturday, according to the City of Fairfax Police.
Officers responded around 11:01 a.m. to Gaming Giant at 4021 University Drive for the report of a burglary that occurred overnight, according to the incident report.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a man dressed in a Spider-Man costume forced his way into the store and stole about $10,000 in merchandise, according to police.

With the help of community members, investigators identified Joel Brown of Silver Spring, Maryland as a suspect in the case, police say.
Brown was arrested on Thursday and taken to the Fairfax County Detention Center, where he was served with a warrant for burglary, police say. He was later released on an unsecured bond.

Brown has an arraignment hearing scheduled for March 25 in Fairfax County General District Court, according to court records. He’ll be back in court on June 24 for a preliminary hearing.
