Virtual Kidnapping Scams Pop Up in Fairfax
Reports of a familiar, yet scary, scam dubbed a “virtual kidnapping” have resurfaced in the metro area, say the FBI and local police. Fairfax County Police warns warns residents that the scam, which has been around for a few years, is becoming popular in the region.
Growing Concern for Missing Teens from Frost Middle School
The parents of two missing Fairfax County middle school students are frantic Friday night after not hearing from their children after three days. Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the 13-year-old girl, Facette “Daniel” Lema and the 14-year-old boy, Rudy Torzano who were reported missing around 7 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, according to Fairfax County Police.

Fairfax County Fire Chief Involved in Crash
The chief of Fairfax County Fire and Rescue, Richard Bowers, was involved in a crash Thursday morning, Fairfax County Police reported Thursday afternoon. Bowers called the Department of Public Safety Communications (DPSC) Thursday morning at about 8 a.m. to report that he had just been involved in a motor vehicle crash on Lee Highway (Rt. 29) at the intersection of the Fairfax County Parkway (Rt. 286), police said.
New Baseball Complex Meeting Set for Next Thursday
A community meeting about a new baseball park is set for next Thursday night at 7 p.m. at Willow Springs Elementary, 5400 Willow Springs Elementary Road. The Fairfax County Park Authority will hold a second public comment meeting (the previous meeting was held last summer) at Willow Springs Elementary School on May 26 at 7 p.m. to present a revised Conceptual Development Plan (CDP) for Patriot Park North at Willow Springs, located at the corner of Braddock and Willow Springs School Roads, in Fairfax.

Producers of the upcoming political thriller Public Affairshave selected Norfolk, Va. as their filming location, Gov. Terry McAuliffe announced Monday. The political thriller centers on a young campaign aide who sleeps with the wife of a presidential candidate — a mistake that threatens his career and endangers his life, and exposes him to blackmail, according to a recent report by Variety.
