Teen Leads Officers on Chase, Crashes Into Tree, Police Say

Here's a look at the most recent incidents reported by Fairfax City Police, in their crime bulletin released Monday.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA -- Police report a 17-year old from Fairfax City led police on a chase and then crashed into a tree Saturday night.

Officers investigating a report of a juvenile violating probation learned that he was wanted by Fairfax County Police in connection with a robbery investigation, police said.

The suspect fled in a vehicle shortly after 9:30 p.m. Saturday without lights on, according to police. Officers located the vehicle at Pickett Road and Mathy Drive where it had crashed into a tree, police said. The four occupants of the vehicle were not injured.

The 17 year old male juvenile, a City of Fairfax resident, was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center where petitions were obtained charging him with felony eluding, reckless driving, no operator’s license and operating a vehicle at night without lights, according to police.

DUI Arrest 16-07078: Fairfax Boulevard / Stafford Drive – On April 30 at 1:52 AM an officer who had initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle observed that the driver was intoxicated. Ilona O. Baranova, 21, of 6531 Washburn Court, McLean, was transported to the Adult Detention Center where she was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Stolen Vehicle 16-07082: 9900 Block of Pinehurst Avenue – On April 30 at 6:43 AM the vehicle owner reported that sometime after 8:30 PM on April 29 unknown person(s) had stolen a 2006 Ford Explorer from the driveway of the residence.

Larcenies from Vehicles/ Vehicle Tampering 16-07092 et seq: 3400 Blocks of Park Hill Place / Brookwood Drive / Country Hill Drive /10100 Block of Cornwall Road – On April 30 between 9:39 AM and 7:53 PM the owners of six vehicles reported sometime during the previous night unknown person(s) had entered their unlocked parked vehicles and rifled through the contents and taken small quantities of cash from several of them. One vehicle had been damaged on a door and bumper and its tires deflated.

Burglary 16-07093: 3600 Block of Mason Street – On April 30 at 10:13 AM the resident reported that sometime after 7:45 AM unknown person(s) had gained entry to the residence through the garage. Nothing was reported taken.

Shoplifting 16-07097: 9640 Main Street / Marshalls – On April 30 at 12:18 PM an employee reported that an unknown male subject had taken merchandise from the store without paying and left the area in a vehicle.

Larceny 16-07182: 4315 Chain Bridge Road / Commonwealth Care – On May 1 an employee reported that unknown person(s) had taken his wallet from a cart during his shift. The wallet contained cash, credit cards and identification.
