Two Men Charged in Attempted Theft of Construction Equipment: Police

Police say an officer caught them in the act early Sunday, May 8, after responding to a complaint.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA -- Fairfax City Police say that two men were taken into custody for allegedly trying to steal construction equipment.

The incident took place Sunday morning, May 8, at about 6:45 a.m., at 11050 Fairfax Blvd. An officer responding to a complaint of construction equipment being moved observed that a piece of equipment called a shoring box had been loaded onto a trailer by two men. They told the officer they had been told to move it.

An investigation determined that was not true, police said and the two were taken into custody.

Jeffrey R. Cunningham, 54, of 8020 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, and Donald Willson, 55, of no fixed address, were transported to the Adult Detention Center where they were charged with grand larceny and bond for each was set at $5,000, according to police.
