Vehicle Stolen From Chantilly Involved In Fairfax City Crash: Police

Police officers from both Fairfax City and Fairfax County were involved in the recovery of a stolen vehicle Wednesday on Fairfax Boulevard.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — A vehicle stolen from Chantilly early afternoon on Wednesday ended up a few hours later in a crash in Fairfax City.

Officers with the Fairfax County Police Department responded around 12:24 p.m., to the 14000 block of Sullyfield Circle Drive in Chantilly to investigate the report of a stolen vehicle. Police determined that two suspects drove off with a 2022 Hyundai Accent that was left unattended with the keys inside, according to authorities.

At 4:15 p.m., City of Fairfax Police notified FCPD that the vehicle had been spotted in the city and requested the help of K9 officers and a helicopter.

A short time later, the Hyundai was involved in a crash in the eastbound lanes of Fairfax Boulevard near Pickett Road, according to city police. Four suspects were taken into custody and no injuries were reported.

“Charges from our department are pending,” said a spokesman with city police. “Three of the juveniles involved had active warrants and were taken to juvenile intake. One was released to the custody of their parents. Due to their ages we cannot release their names.”

City police are investigating the vehicle crash and the stolen vehicle recovery. Fairfax County police are investigating the vehicle theft, the spokesman said.

One lane of eastbound Fairfax Boulevard was closed for about two hours so that police could complete their investigation. All lanes reopened after 6 p.m.
