Here are the top three stories today in Harrisonburg:
- A cat cafe is now open in downtown Harrisonburg. Aristocat CafΓ© combines gourmet tea with 480 square feet of space for adoptable cats, partnering with the Humane Society of Shenandoah County. Aristocat CafΓ© is located at 111 North Liberty St. and is open Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Reservations are recommended in order to secure time with the felines. - The Harrisonburg community is invited to celebrate two newly installed greenhouses and a nursery space maintained by Harrisonburg Public Works on Thursday, Apr. 20, from 1-3 p.m. The event will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by the opportunity to take a tour of the greenhouse and nursery space and view a diverse selection of pollinator plants and trees that will soon be planted in The Friendly City. The celebration will take place at 1020 Greendale Road. (Augusta Free Press)
- The Capital Improvement Program for years 2023-2027 was adopted Tuesday night with a 4-0 vote by the city council. Some projects include new phone systems for Harrisonburg and Rockingham Emergency Communication services, adding restrooms at Riven Rock, a new firehouse, and a kidβs splash pad. The Capital Improvement Program is for projects that exceed $50,000 and are not included in the cityβs budget. (WHSV)
