Crozet’s MacCleery Earns T-25 Finish in Junior PGA Championship

Elsie MacCleery Shines in National Spotlight

16-year-old Elsie MacCleery, a Crozet resident and student at Western Albemarle High School, recently finished tied for 25th in the Girls Division of the prestigious National Junior PGA Championship, which took place at Hot Springs Country Club, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, from August 1-4, 2023.

An accomplished national player, and member of the Middle Atlantic PGA’s Junior Golf Program, McCleery’s T-25 came in a tournament featuring hundreds of the best junior amateur golfers from around the world.

After first picking up the club at the age five, MacCleery has gone on to excel in the game of golf, earning numerous accolades and accomplishments, including being named the junior golfer of the year by the Virginia Golfers’ Association (VSGA). She has won the individual states two years in a row and was the VSGA’s junior girl’s champion.
