Alexandria Area Woman, 43, Dies in Early Morning Car Crash: Police
Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is investigating the possibility that a medical emergency could have occurred prior to the crash.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- An Alexandria area woman has died after her car crashed early Thursday in the Springfield area, according to Fairfax County Police.
Fairfax County Police detectives from the Crash Reconstruction Unit are investigating the single-vehicle crash that occurred on Old Keene Mill Road near Carrleigh Parkway (see map below), on Thursday, shortly before 6 a.m.
The preliminary investigation suggests that a 1994 Toyota Corolla was traveling west on Old Keene Mill Road in the right lane, according to police. The vehicle drifted off the roadway and struck a cement wall, police said.

The driver, Sherrymay Piza, 43, of the Alexandria area, was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital and was pronounced dead, police said.
Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in this crash, according to police. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is investigating the possibility that a medical emergency could have occurred prior to the crash. No one else was injured.
