Build A Child's Library Event Offers Wide Range of Books

Elementary Students Enjoy Choosing New Books at Assistance League's Book Fair

In October Assistance League of Northern Virginia (ALNV) hosted its second Build a Child’s Library event of this school year, at Lynbrook Elementary School in Springfield. At these book fairs, every student selects a new book to take home on a topic that interests them.

As volunteers were setting up the day before, a student came to the door and asked, “Is tomorrow when we get a book to keep?” She was so excited when the answer was: “Yes”.

The event served nearly 600 children in Pre-K through 6th grade. ALNV volunteers helped the students find their books and sign their names inside the cover, making it theirs to keep. The smiles on the faces of the children were proof that the event was a huge success.
