Bus Crash During Police Chase Sends Driver To Hospital: Authorities
A 21-year-old is charged with several felonies in connection with the crash, police said, adding he hit two other vehicles as well.
FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — A Maryland man faces several felony charges after he hit a Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority bus and multiple other vehicles while fleeing police Saturday night in Fairfax County, according to authorities.
Cory Michael-Joseph Zufall, 21, of Reistertown, Maryland, is charged with four counts of felony hit-and-run, one count of misdemeanor hit-and-run, reckless driving and felony eluding, police said.
Around 9:20 p.m., a state trooper tried to stop Zufall’s Infiniti because he was driving recklessly on northbound Interstate 495 at the Mixing Bowl, according to authorities, who said he refused to stop and police gave chase.

Zufall exited the interstate at Gallows Road and evaded an attempted maneuver by the trooper to try to stop him, police said. Zufall then re-entered the northbound interstate before exiting onto eastbound Route 7, where the Infiniti clipped the mirror of a vehicle, according to police. Zufall eventually lost control of the Inifiniti near South Walter Reed Drive and hit a Honda Odyssey minivan and the bus, police said.
Zufall was arrested and taken to a hospital for a minor injury, police said, adding his three passengers were released. The driver of the Odyssey was brought to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, according to police. The bus driver wasn’t hurt and there were no passengers on board, according to police.
