Alexandria Driver Killed, 2 Others Injured In Hayfield Area Crash: Police

Fairfax County Police are investigating a fatal crash at Jeff Todd Way that killed a driver and injured others.

HAYFIELD, VA — An Alexandria driver died in a crash near the Hayfield area Sunday night, according to Fairfax County Police.

The two-vehicle crash happened around 7:39 p.m. in the area of Jeff Todd Way and Telegraph Road. According to a preliminary police investigation, a 2003 Cadillac DeVille driver heading north on Jeff Todd Way crossed into the southbound lanes, striking a southbound 2017 Toyota Highlander.

The driver of the Cadillac Deville, William Poe Jr, 49, of Alexandria, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota Highlander, a man, and an adult female passenger were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives are investigating whether speed, alcohol, or a possible medical emergency factored into the crash.
