Edison Field Hockey Raises Money for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
The team also donned pink shirts during Wednesday's game.
The Edison High School field hockey program supported Breast Cancer Awareness Month in their game Wednesday evening by donning pink shirts and raising $832 for the cause.
Coach Ginger White said Wednesday's game was registered with Play for the Cure-National Foundation for Cancer Research and all proceeds from Wednesday will go to the organization.
To raise money, the team raffled off an embroidered fleece blanket that White made herself. They also had a bake sale where they sold pink cotton candy.
"A major part of being on the Edison field hockey team is to help others — not only on the field but off. So this is a great way to participate and help others," said White in an email. "It may help people we know directly or someone we have never met. But to be a part of the cause is so rewarding."
