Fairfax County Fire Crews Extinguish Brush Fires In Springfield
Strong winds stirred up brush fires in Virginia Tuesday afternoon, including fires along Old Keene Mill Road in Springfield.

SPRINGFIELD, VA — Strong winds stirred up brush fires in Virginia Tuesday afternoon, including fires on Old Keene Mill Road in Springfield, according to fire officials.
Crews from Fairfax County Fire and Rescue worked to extinguish outdoor fires along Old Keene Mil Road near Harwood Place. The westbound lanes of Old Keene Mill Road were shut down temporarily Tuesday afternoon between Tiverton Drive and Bardu Avenue, the fire department said.
By 6 p.m. on Tuesday, firefighters had put out the brush fires in the area, although crews continued to water down several hot spots following the fires, WUSA9 reported.

No injuries were reported from the fires, according to the report.

Brush fires were also reported in Caroline and Chesterfield counties on Tuesday and early Wednesday.
