Flood Warning Issued For DC, Parts Of NoVA
Forecasters say the morning's heavy rain could result in flooded areas.

After a morning of heavy rain, National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for DC and parts of Northern Virginia on Monday, Nov. 5.
The DC area got about an inch of rain Monday morning, forecasters say. Runoff from heavy rainfall will result in flooding in creeks, streams, roads, urban areas, poor drainage areas and other low-lying spots.
The flood warning is in effect until 3 p.m. The District of Columbia, the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax and Falls Church; Fairfax County, Arlington County, northwestern Prince George's County, Md. and southeastern Montgomery County, Md.

Forecasters say these areas in Virginia may have flooding: Arlington, Alexandria, Centreville, Reston, Annandale, Springfield, Fairfax, Fort Hunt, Vienna and Groveton.
Fairfax County Police have closed several roads due to flooding, according to the NWS. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue said a driver escaped from a car stuck in floodwaters in Reston. Officials remind residents to "turn around, don't drown" when encountering flooded roads.

While the morning's rainstorm is moving away from DC, more miserable weather could be in store for Election Day. The Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang predicts a cold front could prompt showers and storms in about hour-long bouts.
