The Hayfield Hawks opened their 2011 season with an 18-0 blowout of Falls Church yesterday. Bryan DiRosario smashed three homeruns to key the victory.
Before the game, former Hayfield coach Ron Simms was honored in a ceremony. Simms coached the Hawks for 13 years, averaging over 10 wins per year and leading Hayfield to its only District title in 2002.
Hayfield continues their season in Tuesday with a game at home against Stuart.
