Hayfield Dramahawks Present Crazy For You!
Gershwin Musical full of singing, dancing, and laughs!

The Hayfield Dramahawks are returning to the stage with their showstopping spring musical, Crazy For You. The 1992 Tony Award winner, featuring music and lyrics by George and Ira Gershwin, is described as a “golden era Broadway musical with incredible tap numbers, physical comedy, impressive stage tech, and a plot worthy of a Hallmark film” by Hayfield’s own Dr. Patrick Mitchell. With its larger than life dance numbers, transcendent melodies, and witty one-liners, this show is certain to leave audience members of all ages absolutely crazy for this production.
The show follows Bobby Child (as portrayed by Aquilles Ailus), a man who despite being trapped in the banking business by his overbearing mother (Katie Dunn), longs for a life spent under the bright spotlights of a Broadway stage. Sent to a near-ghost town in Nevada with orders to foreclose on a down on its luck theatre, Bobby immediately falls for the fiery Polly Baker, played by Josie Sinniger, who just so happens to be the daughter of the theatre’s owner. However, Polly is angered by the banker whom she believes to be attempting to take her theatre. So Bobby must devise a plan to rescue the theatre, one that involves a troupe of Follies Girls, passionate music numbers, and a humorous case of mistaken identity. Notable Gershwin songs from the score include “Embraceable You”, “Naughty Baby”, and of course, “I Got Rhythm”.
When there’s song, there’s dance. With Gershwin’s music as the backbone of the show, the choreography certainly needed to be up to par. Thanks to the tireless efforts of Hayfield’s very own fantastic student choreographers, Ava Taylor, Karen Board, and Josie Sinniger, onlookers are left wondering ‘Who could ask for anything more?’. But these ridiculously talented students are not the only ones helping to carefully curate this classy musical. No, there are a plethora of brilliant young minds working every aspect of this show. From the technical theatre students and volunteers assembling a detailed set which consists of several large mobile aspects to shift from the NYC theatre district to the wild west town of Deadrock, to the dedicated sound technicians ensuring the enchanting music from the live pit orchestra can be heard in every crevice of Hayfield’s massive 1400-seat theatre.
