Unknown Vehicle Strikes Truck Leading To Fire That Ensnarls Traffic For Hours On Tuesday
Virginia State Police are investigating a hit-and-run on I-95 in Springfield that led to a fire that engulfed two trucks.

SPRINGFIELD, VA — Virginia State Police are looking for a vehicle that sideswiped a truck traveling northbound late Tuesday morning on I-95 just before the Springfield Mixing Bowl. The impact of the hit-and-run caused the truck to rear-end another truck and both were soon engulfed in flames.
Fairfax County Fire & Rescue units responded to the scene around 10:52 a.m., according to a department spokesman. Fire personnel were able to bring the fire under control by dousing the trucks with foam.
Northbound lanes of I-95 remained closed for several hours to allow fire crews a chance to clean up the roadway. The incident also resulted in a fuel spill. No injuries were reported.
