Last BuyBuy Baby Store In VA Closing A Year After Resurrection

BuyBuy Baby is closing all of its stores nationwide, including the only Virginia location. You have until Oct. 31 to use gift cards.

SPRINGFIELD, VA — BuyBuy Baby is closing all of its stores nationwide, including the only store the chain has in Virginia, to concentrate on an online-only model a year after new buyers tried to revive the brand.

The last BuyBuy Baby store in the Commonwealth is at 6398 Springfield Plaza in Springfield.

“With this shift, we’ve come to the difficult decision of closing our physical stores by the end of this year,” the company said in a statement on its website. “We understand this may be disappointing news, and we want all our customers to know this wasn’t a choice we took lightly.”

Closing sales are already in progress, and gift cards will be accepted at all locations until Oct. 31. The company said it will keep its popular baby registries on its website, where the use of gift cards will also be managed.

BuyBuy Baby once had about 120 brick-and-mortar stores. The attempt to resurrect BuyBuy Baby only lasted about 12 months. In bankruptcy proceedings last year, former parent Bed Bath & Beyond sold BuyBuy Baby’s intellectual property and trademark rights for $15.5 million to New Jersey-based Dream On Me Industries.
