A man suffered a gunshot injury in Kingstowne on Friday in an incident that Fairfax County police said did not appear to be a random act.

KINGSTOWNE, VA — Fairfax County police are investigating a shooting that occurred in Kingstowne late Friday afternoon that left one man injured.

The shooting, which happened in the area of Barclay Drive and King Centre Drive in Kingstowne, did not appear to be a random act, police said.

At around 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Fairfax County police said they found a man with a gunshot wound to the upper body who was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police confirmed Monday that the victim is expected to survive.

Based on preliminary information, police said in a tweet that the shooting was “an isolated incident.”

Fairfax County police said Friday evening that detectives from its Major Crimes Bureau would continue to investigate the shooting.
