Mike's American Grill In Springfield Catches Fire On Valentine's Day
Mike's American Grill was open to customers on Valentine's Day night when the fire started. Customers and staff reportedly safely evacuated.

SPRINGFIELD, VA — Fairfax County Fire and Rescue were called to Mike’s American Grill in Springfield Tuesday night for the report of a fire that forced the evacuation of the restaurant.
The fire burned in the roof of the building that houses Mike's American Grill, in the 6200 block of Backlick Road, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue said.
Mike’s American Grill, part of the Great American Restaurant chain, was open to customers on Valentine’s Day night when the fire started. The fire department said the fire was put out shortly after 11 p.m. No injuries were reported in the fire.

Fire crews from the City of Alexandria and Fort Belvoir assisted with efforts to out the fire, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

Fire investigators arrived on the scene to determine the cause of the fire, according to the fire department.

One woman told WUSA9 that the fire appeared to have started as a grease fire.
In September 2021, a fire caused extensive damage to Artie's Restaurant in Fairfax City, another restaurant that is part of the Great American Restaurant chain. Six months after the fire, Artie's Restaurant, one of the oldest restaurants in the Great American Restaurant chain, reopened.
