Telegraph, Hayfield Road Intersection Meeting Planned By VDOT
The Virginia Department of Transportation will discuss proposed improvements for the Telegraph and Hayfield Roads intersection.

FRANCONIA, VA — The Virginia Department of Transportation will hold a virtual meeting on proposed improvements at the Hayfield and Telegraph Road intersection.
The meeting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 26 will focus on preliminary design plans for the intersection. Potential improvements may include a second northbound Telegraph Road lane through the intersection, reconfiguring southbound Telegraph Road beyond Hayfield Road by converting parking to a second through lane, and converting the eastbound Hayfield Road through lane to a shared left-turn through lane. VDOT also proposes Americans with Disabilities Act compliant curb ramp upgrades.
The preliminary design options include widening the footprint of Telegraph Road to the west or east in the area of Hayfield Road, and upgrading or adding pedestrian facilities. The estimated construction start date is fall 2024. Estimated costs will be developed as the proposed improvements and design are finalized.
