Central Virginia Community College creates new early college program for homeschoolers (wfxrtv.com) — Homeschooled high schoolers in Lynchburg can now earn an associate’s degree in general studies through a new early college program at Central Virginia Community College. Starting with rising juniors, the cohort-style schedule fits typical homeschool routines and even front-loads Spanish. Applications are open now, with a January 15 deadline and academic requirements including a 3.5 GPA and Algebra II completion. 
2. How Madison House of the Arts is fighting food insecurity with new kids breakfast program (wsls.com) — Lynchburg families facing food insecurity can soon sign up for Madison House of the Arts’ new weekly T.R.A.I.L. kids breakfast program, launching Dec. 20. The initiative offers food support plus creative, screen-free activity ideas, and even free art house memberships. Organizers hope additional donations will expand food options, add delivery in 2026, and reach seniors and veterans.
3. VHSL speaks with ABC13 following eligibility debate at Brookville High School (wset.com) — A Lynchburg-area eligibility fight over Brookville High athletes led to a lawsuit, a Lynchburg judge’s ruling, and a negotiated VHSL penalty that keeps the football team from postseason play. VHSL’s director, who lives in Lynchburg, insists the decision followed statewide rules, while Campbell County and Brookville leaders say they were trying to do right by the students.
4. Protesters demand town hall with Rep. John McGuire amid rising concerns (wset.com) — Residents from Lynchburg joined others outside Rep. John McGuire’s Timberlake Road office, braving freezing temperatures to demand an in-person town hall and more responsive representation.
