Lynchburg woman pleads for return of missing sentimental painting of late service dog (wset.com) — A Lynchburg woman is asking the community’s help to find a missing painting of her late service dog, Curtis, that was mistakenly donated to Mission Thrift about six months ago. After losing both the dogs’ ashes, these paintings are her last mementos, and one has already been recovered. Anyone who may have seen or purchased Curtis’s portrait is urged to contact her on Facebook.
   

5. Garden Conservancy to Release Documentary Celebrating Legacy of Harlem Renaissance Poet ​Anne Spencer (theskanner.com) — A new documentary spotlighting the Anne Spencer House and Garden Museum in Lynchburg will be available to stream starting January 21, 2026. The film explores how Spencer’s Lynchburg garden fueled her poetry, civil rights work, and the founding of the local NAACP chapter, while highlighting ongoing efforts to preserve this nationally significant African American cultural landmark.
