Bringing Play Back: Parrish Law Firm Delivers Free Outdoor Gifts to Local Children Through Wild-Summer 2025

The Parrish Law Firm has officially started delivering free summer gifts to local children as part of its third annual Wild-Summer: Kids at Play campaign—a growing community initiative aimed at getting kids outside and away from screens.

Research shows that kids today spend an average of just 7 minutes per day playing outside, while consuming over 7 hours of digital media daily. To help change that, the firm has committed to donating more than $20,000 in outdoor play equipment over the next five years, encouraging movement, fun, and mental well-being for kids across Northern Virginia.

This summer’s Wild-Summer gear includes soccer balls, jump ropes, basket balls, sidewalk chalk, and more—hand-picked to help children stay active and build healthier habits that can last a lifetime.

“When I was a kid, my first thought every summer morning was to get outside as quickly as possible to play sports with my friends,” said Jim Parrish, founder of the Parrish Law Firm. “Now I walk through my neighborhood, and I don’t see a single kid in sight. We as a community need to change that.”

Families who’ve already nominated children are beginning to receive their summer gifts. But there’s still time to join in. Nominations are open through July 30, 2025, and can be submitted at https://www.theparrishlawfirm.com/about/wild-summer-kids-at-play-campaign/

Once a nomination is submitted, families receive a follow-up email to help match the child with gear they’ll love based on their favorite outdoor activities. Pickups take place at the firm’s Manassas office, where each child is celebrated with a quick photo—a small moment to spotlight a big smile.
