Car Catches Fire In Fatal Lake Jackson Drive Crash: Police
A driver died in a crash in which the vehicle flipped over and caught fire, according to Prince William County Police.
MANASSAS, VA — A car ignited in a fatal crash on Lake Jackson Drive in the Manassas area of Prince William County Saturday, according to police.
The single-vehicle crash happened around 11:51 p.m. Saturday on Lake Jackson Drive near Blandsford Drive. Prince William County Police say a 2017 Volkswagen Golf GTI heading north on Lake Jackson Drive veered in both directions before leaving the roadway. It continued into a field and struck a utility pole, leading the vehicle to flip over several times and ignite.
The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene and taken to the medical examiner for identification. The identity will be released after next-of-kin notification.

No other vehicles or occupants were involved in the crash. Police believe speed contributed to the crash.
