MANASSAS, VA — A pair of COVID-19 vaccine clinics are coming to schools in the Manassas area this week, the Prince William Health District said. The clinics will be held on Thursday and Saturday at Westgate Elementary School and Metz Middle School, respectively.

This week, the Prince William Health District urged residents to seek out COVID-19 vaccines to prevent another winter surge in COVID-19 cases. "Since the start of this pandemic almost two years ago, there have been more than 2,600 COVID-19 deaths, 9,000 hospitalizations, and 230,000 cases in northern Virginia," the health district said in a news release. "Many of the hospitalizations and deaths occurred during last winter’s surge."

Currently, the Prince William Health District has "high" levels of community transmission, according to the Virginia Department of Health. Since Thanksgiving, the number of COVID-19 cases has doubled in Prince William County. Prince William County now has an average of 122 new cases per day over the last seven days.
