Owner Charged After Dog Left Unattended In Car Dies: Police
A dog found unconscious in a car after several hours of being left outside the Manassas Mall, according to police.
MANASSAS, VA — A dog left alone in a car for hours died outside the Manassas Mall on Friday, according to Prince William County Police.
Around 6:42 p.m. Friday, officers responded to the Manassas Mall parking lot in the 8300 block of Sudley Road. Police encountered an unconscious 2-year-old American Bulldog and learned the owner left the dog in the car. The owner had found the dog unresponsive after leaving the dog unattended for several hours. Past weather forecasts showed temperatures in the 80s in Manassas on Friday evening.
Anima control responded to the scene, and the dog was pronounced dead. An investigation determined the owner had six other dogs that were found inside the mall. Animal control brought the dogs to the county's Animal Services Center, and they appeared to be uninjured.

The owner, Malik Lee Dorsey-O'Bannion, 28, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with animal cruelty. He was held on a $1,000 unsecured bond. Police did not have a mugshot available.
