While firefighters were initially responded to the call, a dispatcher informed them that the dog's owner was planning on climbing into the storm drain, as well.
"With this information, Truck 504 Officer asked to upgrade the dispatch compliment to a confined space dispatch and several more units were placed onto the call," the fire department wrote on Facebook.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they learned the owner had not crawled into the storm drain. The responding units downgraded the response, authorities said.
"The crews removed the man-cover overtop the storm drain, located the dog from above, obtained air quality readings inside the drain and readied one of our firefighters to make entry with full SCBA," the fire department said. "Within one minute, the dog was being passed out of the storm drain."
The dog's owner was reunited with her beloved pet. She took a picture with the firefighters who rescued her dog before they returned to duty.
"Mom, pictured in the center, was overwhelmed with happiness and extremely thankful for her local firefighters rescuing her bundle of joy," fire department officials said.
