Truck's Trash Contents Catch Fire, Road Closure Reported For Response

Police and fire responded to a fire in a garbage truck Thursday morning in Manassas, prompting a road closure in the area.

MANASSAS, VA — A trash truck on fire prompted an emergency response Thursday morning in Manassas, according to police.

Manassas Police said a trash truck's contents caught fire, and the Manassas Fire Rescue Department responded to the scene. As of 11:30 a.m., the fire was out.

Liberia Avenue was closed in front of Home Depot, between Centreville Road (Route 28) and Euclid Avenue. Eastbound lanes toward Prince William Parkway are open, as well as one westbound lane. Police asked drivers to use detours around Liberia Avenue and follow police direction.
