Hit-And-Run Reported In Prince William County, Pedestrian Pronounced Dead

Police are asking for information in a crash that killed a pedestrian. The striking vehicle did not stop.

GAINESVILLE, VA — A pedestrian died in a hit-and-run crash early Thursday in Gainesville, according to Prince William County Police.

Around 1:57 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to the hit-and-run at Lee Highway and Virginia Oaks Drive in Gainesville. Police say an unknown vehicle heading north on Lee Highway struck a pedestrian at the intersection. The pedestrian, who was trying to cross Lee Highway, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The striking vehicle did not stop and left the scene. Police do not have any initial details about the driver or vehicle.

Police will identify the victim pending next-of-kin notification.
