MANASSAS, VA — George Mason University's Hylton Performing Arts Center is adopting a new vaccination policy for attendees. Beginning on Oct. 18, all attendees must show proof that they are fully vaccinated or provide a negative COVID test.

The center's vaccination policy aligns with similar plans at venues across the country. In Bristow, Jiffy Lube Live's vaccine or negative test requirement will go into effect on Oct. 4.

The Hylton Performing Arts Center will also require all attendees to wear face coverings at events, regardless of their vaccination status. "Breakthrough cases, particularly of the Delta variant, are becoming more and more prevalent even in those who are vaccinated," the center said in their vaccination policy. "We want to ensure the health and safety of all of our guests, artists and staff."

The mask, vaccine, and negative test requirements are only required for indoor performances at the venue. The venue's mask mandate will also apply to performances before the Oct. 18 vaccine and test requirement takes effect.

"At the Hylton Performing Arts Center, we are committed to the safety of all who work, perform, and visit our venue, and invite you to join in the effort to slow the spread of COVID-19," the center said in their policy.

The center's mask and testing requirements will not apply to attendees who are 2 years old or younger.

The performing arts center said that the new mandate will continue indefinitely. Though, the policy would be revisited on a monthly basis "and as conditions and trusted medical guidance evolve."
