Inauguration Guests in Town? What to Do in Manassas this Weekend

Do you have guests in town this weekend?

Even if they are here for the inauguration, chances are your guests will want to do more than sit on your couch waiting for the second inauguration of President Barack Obama on Monday. So, we’ve rounded up some things you can do right here in Manassas to keep your guests entertained and happy.

Where to Eat

Old Town Manassas has its share of restaurant and bars. Philadelphia Tavern on Main Street is a good place to kick off a very political weekend, as it is named for an historically political city. Plus, it's super convenient if your guests are coming in on the train.

For a good American burger, don't be afraid to hit up Foster's Grille on West Street. If you have a taste for something very specific, like Italian, hit up Carmello's Restaurant for fine dining. If you are in a festive mood for Louisiana cajun there's Okra's Cajun Creole Restaurant in the heart of Old Town on Center Street.

Of course, you can always hit up your familar favorites like Red Robin, Ruby Tuesday and Panera by taking a drive down the vibrant Liberia Avenue. Sudley Road is also home to a pethora of dining and shopping options and it's not too far from Interstate 66, just in case you want to head east into Washington, DC.

Places to See

For a taste of historical Manassas, visit the Manassas Museum on Prince William Street or any of the historic buildings in its system.

Start at the nearby Hopkins Candy Factory, located at 9416 Battle St., and is the home of a photography exhibit and the Center for the Arts of Greater Manassas.

There is also the Jennie Dean Memorial and Manassas Industrial School, the original site of Manassas Industrial School for Colored Youth.

Prospero Books also located in Old Town Manassas at the Corner of Center and West Streets is a great place to shop while visiting the area.
