PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — Drivers at an intersection of Prince William Parkway will notice a change to left turns starting Wednesday in the western part of Prince William County.

The county has opened a jughandle turn at Prince William Parkway near University Boulevard and Discovery Boulevard. According to the county government, the jughandle turn eliminates traditional left turns. Drivers will not turn left at the main intersection but will use the jughandle curved ramp. From there, drivers will wait at an intersection to cross the main road or turn left onto the side street.

Traffic signals at the new jughandle entrance on southbound Prince William Parkway started operating after the Wednesday morning rush hour. Starting at 9 p.m. Thursday, traffic lights at Discovery Boulevard and Prince William Parkway will be adjusted to accommodate the road reconfiguration. Left turns at the intersection will be fully eliminated by Friday morning.
