Manassas-Based Greek Olive Oil Maker To Debut Cooking Classes

An olive oil maker that sources its products from the family's Greek farm will host new cooking classes in its space.

MANASSAS, VA — A Greek olive oil manufacturer based in the Manassas area of Prince William County is ready to introduce classes in its cooking demonstration space.

Laconiko, run by brothers Diamantis and Dino Pierrakos, will host its first Sip & Savor events in November. The owners had previously told Patch they intended to host chefs from various cuisines for cooking classes at their Manassas facility starting in the fall.

The first event from Nov. 7 to 9 will feature Emily Lycopolus, who is a professional olive oil taster, olive oil sommelier, bestselling cookbook author and creator of the Olive Oil Critic. Lycopolus will prepare dishes from her cookbook, Greece – Recipes for Olive Oil and Vinegar Lovers, or share olive oil cooking tips. The classes are limited to 45 guests each.

The events on Nov. 7 and 8, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. are titled Night in Greece: 3-Course Dinner and Wine Pairing. Guests will enjoy a prepared three-course dinner with wine pairings and a variety of artisan oils and vinegar. They will learn about how fresh, extra-virgin olive oil can benefit their meals.

The meal includes hummus and tzatziki, spanakopita puffs, keftedes (Greek meatballs), pita bread and fresh vegetables, fresh Greek salad, pumpkin yam moussaka, beef stew with roasted red peppers, and phyllo pumpkin pie with nutmeg ice cream. The cost is $150 per person.

The other event is a Fresh Harvest ZOI Tasting Experience on Nov. 9, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Guests will get the first chance to sample Laconiko's 2025 New Harvest ZOI flown in from Greece. The class will provide knowledge and tools to select a high quality oil, understand the health benefits and help bring out the best in the kitchen. The cost is $65 per person.
