Manassas City Goes with the Winners: Virginia Primary Election 2013 Results

About 51 percent of the city voted for Sen. Ralph S. Northam on Election Day.

Manassas City voted Tuesday along with the majority of Virginia in the lieutenant governor and attorney general races, going with Virginia Sens. Ralph S. Northam and Mark Herring, according to unofficial results.

Northam, of Norfolk, got 51 percent of the Manassas votes. About 48 percent --or 154 of the total 315 votes cast -- went to his opponent, Aneesh Choprah.

Tuesday’s unofficial results showed Northam won the Democratic nomination for lieutenant governor with 55 percent of the statewide vote.

Manassas residents voted for Loudoun County's Herring by a wider margin, giving them about 55 percent of the total 309 votes casted in that election.

His opponent, Justin Fairfax, received 44 percent of the 309 votes cast in Manassas.
