The rise in serious and violent offenses in 2012 was due primarily to a rising number of aggravated assaults and larcenies from vehicles. The numbers for overall crime and other incident reports rose because there were more simple assaults, juvenile cases, found property reports and drug or alcohol possession, according to police.
