Manassas Hokies Graduate From Virginia Tech

Six Manassas residents were among the more than 1,300 Hokies to receive degrees from Virginia Tech during the 2012-2013 academic year. 

The Manassas Dec. 2012 grads are: 


  • John Miller, Bachelor of Arts in history from the College of Libera Arts and Human Sciences 
  • Michael Beasley, Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree in electrical engineering from the College of Engineering
  • Valerie Black, Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree in civil engineering from the College of Engineering
  • Nelson Ward, Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences
  • Arlene Chung, Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences from the College of Science
  • Zachary Greer, Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from the College of Engineering
  • Brittany Mullinax, Bachelor of Arts degree in international studies from the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences
  • Andrew Nguyen, Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree in civil engineering from the College of Engineering
  • Laura Sykes, Bachelor of Science degree in agribusiness from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences
Virginia Tech held its commence ceremony at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg. Tech President Charles W. Steger presided over the ceremony while  The  keynote address was given by Annie Hesp, an instructor of Spanish in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.
