Manassas Woman Wins New 2013 Jeep Wrangler in Scavenger Hunt

She won the car by playing Jeep Seeker an online scavenger hunt, Virginia Lottery officials said.

Diane Winter had an unexpected guest at the front door of her Manassas home. It was Game Guy, whom she immediately recognized from Virginia Lottery TV commercials and his Facebook page. He brought exciting news:  Winter was the top prize winner in the Virginia Lottery’s Jeep Seeker drawing. Her prize is a 2013 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Vehicle.

Winter’s win is unusual because it did not actually involve buying a lottery ticket. She entered the drawing by playing the Jeep Seeker game, a first-of-its-kind interactive online scavenger hunt.

“I love the game,” she said.

At the Jeep Seeker website, players used clues posted by Game Guy on his Facebook and Twitter pages, to find virtual 4x4s on a digital map of Virginia. Each time a player located a virtual 4x4 icon, the player earned entries in the drawing for a real Jeep® Wrangler Rubicon Vehicle.

The Jeep Seeker game ran from April 15 through May 26. But Jeep fans still have a chance to win a new set of wheels in the Virginia Lottery’s Jeep Scratcher game.
