MANASSAS, VA — On a Monday morning, 20 to 30 people were lined up to get into the newest fitness club in the Sudley Road corridor of Manassas.

Those early birds were members who joined Onelife Fitness Manassas, which opened at 10 a.m. Monday at the Westgate Plaza, 8025 Sudley Road in Manassas. The membership-based club is a 55,000-square-foot facility with gym equipment, specialized group classes, pool, sauna and more amenities.

Mark York, a regional director with One Life Fitness, told Patch that the fitness center's concept is a high-amenity, high-value club.

"We're open for everyone, whether it be an elderly person just trying to stay mobile...current athletes or everyone in between," York said.

Onelife Fitness, which has dozens of locations in the DC region and from Maryland to Georgia, was recently purchased by Washington Commanders owner Josh Harris's investment company. The company said it plans to continue innovating its facilities, look at opening clubs in more cities and keeping a focus on members. At the time of the acquisition announcement, Onelife Fitness had more than 400,000 members and 61 clubs.

When members join, they get two sessions with a personal trainer to determine their fitness plan and a body composition analysis. Premier members get added benefits like a monthly body composition analysis, discounts on ProShop merchandise and beverages, and access to recovery room features like hydromassage, compression equipment and red light therapy. All members get access to locker rooms with a sauna.

One other draw of the club will be an indoor pool, cold plunge pool and hot tub. The pool area is still under construction, and York says it is expected to be completed around the end of 2024. York says cold plunge is one of the newer trends, which may help with fat loss, resiliency and more.

"This will be the first cold plunge we've had at our clubs, and that will be the standard going forward," said York.

Members have access to a variety of group classes in its cycle, main group fitness and mind body studio. Some of the offerings are Zumba, cycle, mat Pilates, sprint, barre and more. York said 60 classes are being offered, and there's a goal of upping that number to 80 or 90 in the early new year.

Select classes in the boxing studio like boxing and kickboxing are only available with the strike boxing membership. Boxing coaches all have a competitive background in boxing. Just outside the boxing studio, the club is working to add an outdoor turf training area with training equipment and room to train in the fresh air. York anticipates this outdoor area could open in March 2025.

Another feature of the Onelife Fitness is a kids club for parents to drop off children for two hours at a time. Kids can enjoy active play areas as well as active video games. There's also a separate area for younger, non-walking children.

York, who lives in Manassas, says the club will fill a gap in this corridor of Manassas. He noted that Manassas has an active community with all the various sports leagues that could benefit from the club.

The starting price at the new Manassas club is $38.99 per month for a basic membership, $48.99 per month for a premier membership and $89.99 per month for a membership with strike boxing. Regular hours are 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m .to 6 p.m. Sunday.
