Osbourn High School's Music Program Receives Blue Ribbon Award
The Blue Ribbon Award at Osbourn High School was due to high ratings of orchestra, choir and band programs in state assessments.

MANASSAS, VA — Osbourn High School in Manassas has hit the right note to win a top award for its music program.
The Virginia Music Educators Association gave Osbourn High School the Blue Ribbon Award, which means the school's top-performing ensembles in band, choir and orchestra have earned "superior" ratings at state assessments. This is the third year the high school earned the honor, with others happening in 2019 and 2022.
"This award is a testament to the dedication of our student musicians and the exceptional leadership of our performing arts staff," said Sarah Weaver, the fine and performing arts coordinator for Manassas City Public Schools.

The school's Festival Mixed Choir and Festival Treble Choir, led by Sherlee Glomb, received "superior" ratings from all four judges during the assessment. Three students—Neila Abregro (Alto 1), Adrianna Willard (Soprano 1), and Isaac Quintanilla (1st alternate, Bass 1)—were recognized in the All-State Honor Choir audition process and will represent the school in the April competition.
Osbourn High School's Osbourn’s Symphonic Orchestra and Honors Chamber Orchestra, led by Latoya Lamons, also earned straight "superior" ratings.

The Osbourn Band Program, directed by Andrew Wassum, met the criteria to be named a Program of Honor by the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association. The honor goes to schools earning "superior" ratings in the marching band for fall and concert band for spring. This is the fourth time Osbourn High School earned the Program of Honor distinction, with three of the times being under Wassum's direction.
"This recognition reflects the high standards of excellence within our performing arts programs," said Manassas City Public Schools Superintendent Kevin Newman. "It showcases the talent, dedication, and collaboration of our students and staff, and we are incredibly proud of what they have accomplished."
