Osbourn Park Teacher Charged With Assault Of Student, Put On Leave
Prince William County Police say a high school teacher grabbed a student on the neck and pushed her, leading to an assault charge.

MANASSAS, VA — An Osbourn Park High School teacher is facing a charge resulted to an assault of a student, Prince William County Police say.
The school resource officer began investigating the March 12 assault two days later. According to police, a 15-year-old female student approached the teacher during class. During their interaction, police say the teacher grabbed the victim by the back of the neck and pushed her forward. Both parties separated, and there were no injuries reported.
Last Thursday, police charged the teacher, Bobby Ray Lake, 64, of Manassas, with assault and battery. The school's website says Lake is a health and physical education teacher.

According to WJLA, the high school informed families that the teacher was on leave. The school district did not provide any additional comments due to the law and policies on personnel matters. Principal Lisamarie Kane "we do not believe that this isolated incident is reflective of the great work being accomplished every day by our school team."
Kane said students that feel unsafe or witness an incident can report it to a trusted adult.
