MANASSAS, VA — A 21-year-old Manassas man was sentenced Friday to prison time in relation to fentanyl drug trafficking.

Jeffrey Martinez, 21, was sentenced in federal court to 15 years in prison for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

The case stems from law enforcement finding evidence of fentanyl and other drugs during a search of Martinez's residence on Jan. 30, 2024. Prosecutors say the search uncovered about 4.13 kilograms worth of 29,490 dark-blue fentanyl pills and 2.2 kilograms worth of 20,114 light-blue fentanyl pills marked with “M-30” to mimic Oxycodone. Other items found at the residence were $4,980, 2.18 kilograms of marijuana, 107 grams of cocaine, a scale and four firearms.

Law enforcement had done a traffic stop and arrested Martinez the same day. Investigators found about $1,600, a handgun and approximately 1,200 fentanyl pills marked "M-30" from the search of Martinez and the vehicle.

“By trafficking tens of thousands of deadly fentanyl pills into Northern Virginia communities while unlawfully possessing firearms, Jeffrey Martinez put our citizens at grave risk," said Lindsey Halligan, the Trump-appointed prosecutor whose status as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia has been in question. "This substantial sentence underscores the seriousness of such crimes and the consequences of endangering our community. We remain steadfast in our commitment to eradicating the threat posed by armed drug traffickers."
